When the old Estep home was torn down, this old cabin was what was under the boards. This was Garrett's first post office and may have been Garrett's first structure. It was located behind the old Methodist Church.

Picture taken from near the parking lot of Gas Mart. The mound on the right of the vehicle is where the Garrett Restaurant and the telephone buildings were later built. The railroad was behind the mound.
